Your record
Where is my record stored?
Inside the app on your phone, and, on iPhone, in your own private iCloud if sync is on. It is not on our servers or in your photo library, and we never see it. The one exception is attorney sharing, which you switch on yourself: entries are encrypted on your phone first, and only your attorney can read them.
What happens if I lose my phone or delete the app?
On iPhone with iCloud sync on, your record comes back when you install the app on a new phone signed in to the same Apple account. Otherwise, deleting the app deletes your record, and we can't restore it, because we never had a copy. On Android there is no sync or cloud backup.
What does "sealed" mean?
Entries are sealed when you save them. Any change after that is recorded, never hidden. Sealing shows when an entry was saved and that it hasn't been quietly edited since. It doesn't prove that what you wrote happened, so write what you saw and heard, as plainly as you can.
I made a mistake in an entry. Can I fix it?
Yes. Add a correction. It is saved as a new entry linked to the original, with your reason, so both stay in the record.
Can my employer see my record?
Not through us. Your record never leaves your phone unless you share it. If your phone is managed by your employer, they may have other ways to see what's on it, so consider using a personal phone.
How do I share my record with someone?
When you're ready, you can turn your entries into a dated timeline and share it the way you choose, for example with HR, a union rep or your attorney. Nothing is shared unless you start it.
Subscription
How do I cancel my subscription or trial?
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Documented: At Work. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends to avoid the next charge. Your record stays on your phone either way.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?
Sign in with the same Apple ID, open the app, and tap Restore purchase on the subscription screen.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Using the app
Voice notes aren't turning into text
Check that Microphone and Speech Recognition are on for the app in Settings, then Documented. The text is worked out on your phone, so it also works without a connection.
I'm not getting reminders
Check that notifications are allowed for the app in Settings, then Notifications, then Documented, and that a Focus mode isn't silencing them.
Is there an Android version?
Documented: At Work is on iPhone first, with Android to follow.
Documented: At Work is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. If you have a legal question, talk to an attorney where you live. See our privacy policy and terms of service.
